Dyantha Brooks: ‘For the first time I feel that I don’t have to hide my body’

“I found it very difficult to gain so much weight, not feel like myself at all and no longer fit my clothes,” she reflects.

Every day she visits millions of living rooms to update us on the Show News and the ups and downs of the celebs. But this time it’s all about Dyantha Brooks herself. How are things going with her? Glamial questions her about pregnancy weight and beauty ideals.

Pregnant

There was quite a difference between the two pregnancies of sons Davis and Lewis, she reveals. “After my first pregnancy I also gained a lot of weight, but with the last one it seemed to happen faster. I came from Expedition Robinson where I hadn’t eaten anything for a month. My body then started storing everything before it went back into survival mode. Of course I am very grateful that we have two healthy children, but both times I found it very difficult to gain so much weight, not feel like myself at all and no longer fit my clothes.”

After her second birth, the presenter was awake many nights and had little energy to focus on healthy eating, she shares. “When I was about to go back to work, I did go to the gym, but I mostly walked around in a daze because I was so tired. I even gained extra pounds because I started eating more because of the fatigue. At a certain point I accepted that this was not the time and I put sports on the back burner and focused on my son.”

Top fit

Ultimately, with the help of a personal trainer friend, she managed to achieve her goal. “By exercising a lot and discovering after six months that you can exercise whatever you want, but if you don’t adjust your diet you won’t lose much weight. I then started eating much more consciously. More proteins, fewer carbohydrates and fewer binges,” she summarizes.

Additional advantage of such a toned body? It’s a great excuse to shop for a new wardrobe, Dyantha reveals. “When I look in my closet, I see countless crop tops. Who wants to look at my belly button all day long, I think. On the other hand, I am now living my best life, I have worked hard for this figure and for the first time I feel that I no longer have to hide my body.”

Busy

When we ask Dyantha whether she felt a lot of pressure to lose weight from her TV work, she responds clearly: “Absolutely. I am surrounded by female colleagues who fit into their old jeans the same week after their pregnancy.”

Dyantha herself naturally puts a lot of time and energy into her looks, but she maintains a down-to-earth view of it. “I do have my nails and hair done because it is immediately visible, but I do not do botox or other expensive treatments.” In any case, she is not worried about lines on her face: “I don’t strive for perfection.”

“I’m amazed at what people allow themselves to be done these days. One fills up his buttocks and the other has his eyebrows raised. People freak out,” she shares. “The image of what you should look like, if Instagram is to be believed, is so far from reality. I don’t understand why women do such extreme things to be perfect. It’s that I have two sons, but if I had two girls I would be really worried about this.”
