The presenter opens a book about her love and friendships.
Every day she visits millions of living rooms to update us on the Show News and the ups and downs of the celebs. But how does Dyantha Brooks actually do that when it comes to her own circle of friends? In conversation with Glamial, she talks candidly about her social life as a busy career woman and real celebrity.
Busy busy busy
In addition to her physical fitness, we also questioned Dyantha about her mental health. She shares that she takes good care of herself by managing her time well. “Since I have children, I no longer have much need for social contacts. With a family and a busy job, your week is so full,” says the presenter.
“I now attach more value to days when I can do something for myself, such as having a coffee somewhere or exercising. Of course I like seeing friends, but at 35e it is not realistic to actively maintain a lot of social contacts. I now have a few good friendships where the intensity is not so high.” She continues: “I have really become my own worst nightmare. My husband is my best friend and I prefer to be at home.”
Love happiness
She has been together with that man (Mick de Vlieger, an entrepreneur and politician) for fourteen years, and has also been married since 2015. How do they keep it fun together? “We also have periods when we are both busy, with little time to go out for dinner, but we always do our best not to lose sight of each other. When I come home after Shownieuws around one o’clock in the morning, my husband is still awake. He thinks it’s important enough to stay up so we can discuss our day. We show interest, but we also give each other space and we always look at how we can make it more fun or better for the other person.”
Famous friends
Of course we are also very curious about the relationship between her famous friends and her work as a Show News presenter. “I find it difficult when I know people well personally,” she reveals. “Like Glennis Grace. She has been in the news a lot, so when I heard news about her, I called her in advance to announce it.”
She recently also received a question about this face to face from none other than Fajah Lourens. “She told me a story and then asked: ‘This isn’t in Shownieuws tonight, is it?’ I haven’t even sold her yet. I think it is important that people can trust me. If they tell me something privately, it will never end up in my work.” Clearly!
