Three generations of Christmas!
The time has come again for royals to lavishly distribute Christmas cards, and the British royal family may take the cake. Year after year they give a special, personal touch to their cards by sharing a beautiful family photo every year. This is how the family appeared on their Christmas cards through the generations.
2023: The sweet family photo of the Waleses
This year, William and Kate teamed up with photographer Josh Sinner for a snap with their offspring George, Charlotte, and Louis. And although it is of course an extremely cute photo of the family, the snapshot on social media raises many questions. Because the observant viewer will see that something is missing. “What happened to Prince Louis’ middle finger?”, fans wonder. And indeed: when we take a look at the little prince’s hand, we see that his middle finger is nowhere to be seen.
And it’s not just the questionable disappearance of Louis’ middle finger. Fans also note that Louis’ right leg is swollen, and Charlotte’s hand is depicted as strangely elongated.
Anyway: for now we assume that this is a tiny photoshop error, and that everything is okay with the Wales kids. Furthermore, the royal Christmas card is of course a sight to behold!
1986: Diana & Charles from the living room
When they were still happy: in 1986, the Princess of Wales and her Charles sent this beautiful family photo with young William and Harry. This card was part of a collection of letters and cards addressed to the Pendrey family. Maud Pendrey was a housekeeper at Althorp House, the royal home of the Spencer family, for many years.
1969: Elizabeth’s Summer Boat Trip
Although we always associate Christmas with ice, snow and winter, William and Kate are not the first to choose a summer snapshot for their Christmas card. The photo below from 1969 was chosen by Queen Elizabeth for her Christmas card that year. This beautiful picture was taken earlier that year when Elizabeth and her Philip visited Norway together with their offspring Prince Charles, Prince Edward, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew. Our favorite part of this happy family moment? That’s really the look that Elizabeth and Philip share. True love!
