Leonor means business!
When you reach adulthood as a young princess, a lot suddenly comes your way. Our own Amalia and the Belgian Elisabeth can talk about this, but since the end of October the Spanish Leonor has also officially grown up with a lot of ceremonies. And she proved again yesterday that she takes her role as heir to the throne very seriously.
To swear allegiance
The current generation of Spanish royals isn’t much for decadent excesses – and don’t blame them, since that’s exactly what their predecessors were vilified for. Instead of a grand gala for Leonor’s eighteenth birthday, there were ‘only’ a number of ceremonies on the agenda in which the Crown Princess swore allegiance to the Spanish Constitution. And onwards – a lap of honor through the city to wave to the crowd.
She also received several medals from representatives of the Spanish House of Representatives and the Spanish Senate.

And it is precisely those medals of honor that formed the most important part of Leonor’s outfit today. In addition to her father, King Felipe, and mother, Queen Letizia, the Princess of Asturias attended the opening of the parliamentary year.
Unlike the British, where this occasion is accompanied by traditional cloaks and priceless crowns, the Spaniards also keep it businesslike here. For example, Queen Letizia wears one of her favorite Carolina Herrera gowns and capes, with a set of sexy heels from Daniela.
Hubby keeps it simple with a good suit, as we are used to from him. And on Felipe’s right hand, Leonor radiates all businesslike with her dark green Adolfo Dominguez dress, Hugo Boss pumps, and Carolina Herrera coat – the latter of course borrowed from her mother’s wardrobe.

Moreover, the simple color palette of emerald green with camel tones draws full attention to the princess’s special accessories: just like her fathers, she wears the aforementioned medals of honor around her neck. The message seems clear: Leonor means business!

Still fun: in addition to being king, Felipe is also a very proud father who sees his little girl grow up.
Special detail: it was not the first time that Leonor was present on this occasion. While in the Netherlands our princesses only make their appearance on Prinsjesdag after their eighteenth birthday, Leonor and sister Sofía have already been spotted several times on a voluntary basis at the solemn occasion. However, the youngest daughter of the royal couple was absent this time, as she is currently finishing her secondary school in Wales. Hopefully she too can be present again soon!
