New portrait
The Danish court also shares a new portrait of the princess. The caption reads: “A new photo of Her Royal Highness is published on the occasion of the Princess’s birthday. The photo was taken in Christian VIII’s palace in Amalienborg.” The princess also celebrated her birthday at the same place, together with family and close friends.

Friend of Beatrix
Who knows, the princess may have also received a card from our own Princess Beatrix on her birthday. Benedikt and Beatrix have been good friends since childhood, Blauw Bloed reports.
In the TV series Beatrix’s heavy coat, the Danish princess even shares anecdotes about their close friendship, for example reminiscing about a sleepover at Drakensteyn Castle. And her great love, the late Richard zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg? He met Benedkeek at Beatrix and Claus’ wedding party in 1966.
