Can the princess finally enjoy her student years?
She was confined to the palace for more than a year and a half due to all kinds of threats, but yesterday Het Parool reported that Crown Princess Amalia has finally returned to Amsterdam to enjoy student life in a canal house.
Threat
Every young person dreams of learning to stand on their own two feet and getting a taste of life without mom and dad looking over your shoulder. This also applies to our Princess Amalia. But just a few weeks after the start of her studies, the Princess of Orange’s freedom was again severely restricted. There were serious concerns that HRH would become the target of organized crime, and she had to quickly say goodbye to her student house on the canal.
At the beginning of last year, Amalia shared that she was having a really hard time with it. For example, she stated in a press interview after the Caribbean tour: “I’m going to be very honest: I’m still having a very difficult time. I miss normal life, the life of a student. Walking through the streets, being able to go to a store.”
Back in Amsterdam
Fortunately, it now seems that the princess can finally enjoy her student days again. Yesterday, Het Parool reported that the Crown Princess has moved back into our capital. Although the Government Information Service (RVD) itself does not want to deny or confirm the news, several of the princess’s neighbors have revealed that there has been increasing activity around the canal house lately.
For example, one neighbor reported after the arrival of several security guards: “Then the posts for her parking space will soon be removed, and then she will come.” An employee of a local coffee shop is also said to have seen that new cameras have been installed at the building. Het Parool also writes that ‘various sources’ have confirmed to the newspaper that the Crown Princess is indeed living in Amsterdam again.
Scale down
Whether the eldest A’tje indeed lives in Amsterdam again, as was the original plan? The RVD is keeping tight-lipped about this ‘for the sake of the princess’s privacy’. The NOS also writes that the RVD does not want to say anything about the security of the princess – that is of course understandable.
Fortunately, all signals now indicate that the Princess of Orange can finally enjoy her student days again – and all the parties, drinks, hours of work, and dinners with the housemates that come with it. In any case, she was awarded it!
