Even in her spare time, the Queen does not like to sit still.
Last week, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima concluded their working season. Time to take off your high heels and relax while enjoying a cheese platter, you might think. But all that freedom also offers the opportunity to spend time on hobbies. What is actually our queen’s favorite pastime? We went to investigate.
Sporting hobbies
Recently, singer Flemming made a revelation about the queen’s hobbies. During the lunch of luminaries, the Dutch singer had the honor of sitting next to Máxima and the two got into conversation. Then she said that she likes to swim outside when it’s not too cold. Let’s hope for lots of sun during the summer holidays!
But of course we have known for a long time that Máxima is a great sports lover. Not only to watch, but also to participate in herself. As many will recognize, it is the perfect way for the queen to clear her head. How wonderfully normal she has remained!
Relaxation
In addition to a refreshing dip, Máxima likes to saddle up for a horse ride. Alone, with husband Willem-Alexander or her daughters; horse riding is definitely a hobby of the queen.

Now that the children have flown the nest, the queen has more free time. She likes to fill it with sporting hobbies or relaxing walks with her dog Mambo. The beach is also a favorite spot of Máx; she likes to sit down there for a nice cup of coffee.
As queen, Máxima visits many different places and tries all kinds of activities and sports. However, not every sport is one that sticks; for example, we have not often seen the queen archery, except for that one sporadic time in Mongolia.

Creative highness
In addition to all those sporting hobbies, Máxima also has an artistic side. She likes to take a moment to visit exhibitions and admire art. She is also creative herself and likes to do needlework, for example. She already proved that this creative hobby suits her when she helped embroider the curtains of Paleis Huis ten Bosch.
Music
Music is in Máxima’s Argentinian blood. She likes to make music herself and loves to dance. This passion goes beyond the palace doors, because the queen is committed to bringing more children into contact with music. For example, she is honorary chair of the Platform Ambassadors More Music in the Classroom, which fits in perfectly with her vision of making music lessons part of education.
Now that the summer vacation has started for our queen, she has all the time for horseback rides or dives in the water. We wish our royal couple a nice vacation, so that they can hopefully start a new working season fresh and fruity!
