New photo Kate Middleton withdrawn after Photoshop error

The princess has now also responded.

Last week, a photo of Kate Middleton, who was absent for a long time after abdominal surgery, was shared for the first time in months. But observant fans soon noticed that the photo appeared to have been edited.

New picture

The last time we saw Princess Kate in public was more than two months ago. After New Year’s Eve, her highness enjoyed a well-deserved holiday with the children, and then the news arrived that the Princess of Wales had to undergo surgery on her abdomen. The Firm remained tight-lipped about further details.

With the deafening silence from the court, speculation about Kate’s absence became increasingly wild. Ultimately, the princess was snapped by a paparazzo, Williams’ spokesperson responded to all rumors in clear language, and Kensington Palace shared an official photo of Kate with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis for the first time in months.

Speculations

But if you look closely, you will see that something is not right. Because where is Kate’s wedding ring? And what’s going on with those faint spots in the photo? Although this initially remained simply speculation and nonsense on social media, it appears that the latter question in particular was also asked by prestigious press agencies.

As a result, several major image banks, where international press get their photos, have banned the snapshot. For example, the Associated Press (AP), Getty Images, Reuters, and the Agence France-Presse (AFP) have shared a so-called ‘Kill notice’ with their media partners.

Errors

Reportedly, the main element causing problems is “an inconsistency in the position of Princess Charlotte’s left hand.” And if you (like the editors) have zoomed in on the snapshot above, you will undoubtedly notice that a piece of the princess’s sleeve does indeed seem to disappear into thin air. Oops!

Other keen viewers have also spotted more parts of the photo that appear to be incorrect. For example, royalty expert Chris Ship shares a small collage on X (formerly Twitter):

I’ve never been much of a conspiracy theorist but if @AP @AFP @Reuters & other picture agencies are concerned enough to remove it and ask clients to delete it, there are serious questions for Kensington Palace – which was the source of the photo.

Kate’s response

Kate shares her sincere apologies for this mistake via the Instagram Stories on the official account of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

“Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing. “I wanted to apologize for any confusion the family photo we shared yesterday may have caused,” she wrote. “I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day.”
