In conversation with RTL Boulevard, chef Herman den Blijker shares how he fought his battle against the kilos. With the help of a special ‘waste medicine’, Herman has lost more than forty kilos and has turned his life around in a healthy way.
Herman den Blijker’s decisive turnaround
When Herman den Blijker discovered that he weighed more than 150 kilos, he knew it was time to completely change course. The doctor prescribed the ‘waste medicine’ Ozempic, a drug originally designed for diabetes patients. Herman explained to RTL Boulevard how the medicine worked for him. “Then you start with a small injection. That’s one injection, you can’t even see it.”
Stop thinking about food
The kilos really flew off from that moment on! Within three weeks Herman was already 12 kilos lighter and because it happened so quickly he even thought he was sick. “There is no other way. That is not healthy,” he told his doctor worriedly. But the doctor explained what Ozempic was doing to his body. “The medicine is a kind of mind fuck,” says Herman. “Can you imagine if I don’t think about food?” The drug ensures that you feel full for longer and therefore eat smaller portions.
Angry reactions
Although Herman himself is happy with his weight loss and better health, not all reactions to his story were positive. RTL Boulevard posted the interview on Instagram and received many negative comments. Many people felt that Ozempic should only be for people who really need it.
Herman den Blijker’s response to the criticism
Herman was really shocked by those reactions and responded under the video. “I’m shocked by the comments… I have been a diabetes patient for over 20 years. After all these years, I was recently prescribed the much-discussed drug Ozempic from the diabetes department of the Erasmus MC. For me, this drug not only affects the disease and its associated symptoms. gained control, I also lost weight enormously. This is different for everyone and I am talking about my own experiences here. Everyone can have an opinion about this, but preferably an opinion based on the truth a longer conversation, that doesn’t always work out well with these types of topics,” he wrote. You can watch the video in which Herman tells his story and to which all those reactions poured in, below.
