What’s old is new again.
What’s old is new again. That’s how the fashion world looks this year. We see trend after trend returning, but the last one is surprising: the brooch.
The brooch
Many retro items are making a comeback, such as the A-line dress and certain sneakers. This trend is also taken straight from 1950: the brooch. It has recently become the perfect way to spice up a basic outfit. Models paraded on various catwalks with a brooch on their outfit; from Miu Miu and Erdem to Tory Burch.

Street style
Even outside the catwalk, the brooch often featured in street style looks during recent Fashion Weeks. Pinned to a jacket or blazer, but also to keep a cape or scarf in place. Large and small, gold and silver, antique and modern, everything passed by. And if fashion experts are to be believed, this is only the beginning. The rest of the year this trend continues to grow and flourish.

Go shopping
Convinced? Then you should add some beautiful brooches to your wardrobe. At Givenchy you will find a beautiful gold rose, at Chanel a silk flower and at Oscar de la Renta a small gold-colored bow. But Saint Laurent, Tiffany & Co. and Loewe also have beautiful examples in their collection. And don’t worry, high street stores are also responding to the trend, if you don’t want to break the bank. You can also find pearls at H&M, Arket and Zara.

Vintage
Perhaps even nicer is a real vintage brooch. Delve into your mother’s, grandmother’s closet or maybe you have saved something from the past. If not, go on a treasure hunt in antique shops. You’ll be amazed at what you can find if you have the patience.
The next time you look in the mirror and feel like your outfit is missing something, you will at least know what to do: add a beautiful brooch!
