In a relationship you have to be yourself. However, this is not easy with Dirk and Anneke in Married At First Sight. Anneke does have difficulty with the fact that Dirk does not do his best for her every day. She allows him to wear beautiful clothes every day. Something that quite surprised Dirk. Although viewers on social media also find Anneke’s callous behavior unacceptable. He deserves better!
Dirk and Anneke in Married At First Sight
On the wedding day, 67-year-old Dirk and 60-year-old Anneke seem like a great match. They kiss each other several times and can laugh together. She also receives compliments from Dirk, who clearly finds her attractive. When they wake up the next morning, there is still a calm in the hotel room. Dirk says that they chatted a lot at night. Meanwhile, they lay snug in each other’s arms. Cute. “It feels so calm in my body and so relaxed,” Dirk says to the camera. “Wonderful to feel that again after a long time.” When they brush their teeth together later, Dirk also thinks that she likes him as much as he likes her. Anneke seems to be ‘flirting’ a bit by giving a kiss on the cheek. Unfortunately, it is just a spontaneous, ‘friendly’ kiss. In front of the camera, Anneke reveals her true feelings at that moment. “I feel a bit sorry for him,” she begins. “I don’t feel anything at all. Zero point zero.” He would be “too old” for her. She says she is in a completely different phase: “I am a different type.”
Disappointed with outfit
So Anneke doesn’t feel anything for Dirk after the wedding night. However, this does not mean that she immediately gives up on him. After all, she has only known him for a day, maybe it will still happen. So they will go on their honeymoon to Madeira together. However, things quickly go wrong there. Anneke immediately shares her current thoughts about Dirk. This disappoints him a bit. He had imagined the beginning of their honeymoon differently. He also feels insecure, he says during dinner. However, Dirk only receives criticism from Anneke. At one point he indicates that he is just as vain as Anneke and likes beautiful clothes. She did indeed do her best, she says. However, she is disappointed by his outfit. Unfortunately for her, he doesn’t have a closet full of designer clothes like she does. Dirk thinks it’s a shame that she takes this to heart. “Now I’m wearing my normal clothes and it’s nothing at once,” he says in front of the camera. “That’s amazing. Then I think: what the fuck is this?”
Appearance is important
Dirk just likes to save his beautiful outfits for special occasions. This dinner is only their first dinner together during the honeymoon. However, appearance turns out to be very important to Anneke, so the occasion doesn’t matter. “I do my best to look beautiful for you. I wear beautiful lingerie, I do that for you,” she says to the camera. “I expect something in return.” Dirk just went for an easy outfit. He is also very hot: “I’m sweating like crazy.” He prefers to wear the nice clothes when they go out for a fancy dinner. “I like having nice clothes. Just not every day,” says Dirk.
“Numb”
The Married At First Sight viewers on social media channel X massively support the insecure Dirk. They don’t understand Anneke and her wish list. They also call her “feelingless” because she criticizes her matched partner on TV. Why? “Let him be appreciated for a moment,” someone writes. The situation makes Dirk sad. “Then I also think: your wish list for a man is so high. And if I don’t meet it, then it’s over,” he says, after which tears fly into his eyes: “It didn’t work out again.”
It is unbelievable how Anneke dares to humiliate and insult Dirk to the core in front of the whole of the Netherlands. Well Anneke: It’s not about closets full of designer clothes and elderly lingerie, but about the inner self and a beautiful character. And Dirk does have that. #crazy
