It was another old-fashioned evening full of glamour.
The Zwoyals are of course very modest in general, but every now and then the urge for glamor strikes. Yesterday was another day: King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were visited by President Emmanuel Macron, which resulted in a lot of stately snapshots, glamorous haute couture, and tiaras.
State banquet
The two-day state visit of the French president and his wife started, as we are used to, with a spectacular welcome ceremony and many ceremonies. In the evening, however, the real work began, and a state banquet was traditionally organized. Kids Princess Victoria and Prince Carl Philip were also there, and of course the supporters were allowed to come along. Furthermore, some Swedes who have a special bond with France were invited for the event.
Queen Silvia
Anyway: such a state banquet will probably be good for a lot of things, but our eyes were, as always, mainly focused on everything that sparkled and glittered – and that was quite a bit. Queen Silvia, who took her role as hostess very seriously, appeared in a purple gown from the label Georg & Arend, which she paired with Jimmy Choo pumps in the same purple shade and a quirky Queen of Hearts clutch from designer JJudith Leiber. On her head was the Cameo tiara, the diadem that Princess Victoria wore on her wedding day, and that Silvia only conjures from the royal vault for very special occasions.
Princess Victoria
Princess Victoria managed to steal the show again in a dress that we still can’t believe is from H&M. To compensate for the whole thing, there were of course some gems dangling here and there, and Vic wore the Napoleonic Cut-Steel tiara on her head.
Princess Sofia
Sofia once again did not disappoint. The princess made her appearance in a new dress by designer Lars Wallin, and combined it with the tiara and shoes that she also wore at her wedding. A mix of new and recycled with a stunning result!
It looks like the Zwoyals have had their monthly dose of glamor again. We are already looking forward to the next one!
