Intense: Sylvia Geersen and Erica Meiland have a candid conversation about deceased sisters

The Meiland family is often all enthusiasm and hysteria. Yet sometimes there is room for more in-depth conversations, such as in the latest episode of Chateau Meiland VIPS with Viktor Brand and Sylvia Geersen. Very serious conversations are had, especially with Sylvia, for example about her sister who died at a young age. It even causes a revelation for Erica, who recognizes herself in the situation.

Sylvia Geersen at Chateau Meiland VIPS

The latest episode of Chateau Meiland VIPS starts off quite quietly and relaxed, when Viktor Brand arrives as the first guest at the Code Rosé guest house. Only Martien does not feel completely calm, because he is very much looking forward to Viktor’s arrival. Daughter Montana even thinks he is secretly a little nervous. Although he himself says not. Alright. After a short chat with Viktor, the second guest arrives, ‘Bachelorette’ Sylvia Geersen, and she causes a little more hysteria. She also immediately arrives with a large bouquet of flowers and of course a bottle of champagne. Sylvia probably sees the trip to the Meilandjes as a nice, positive distraction. As soon as they all sit together for the first time, Sylvia immediately dives into the depths. “It’s been so hard for me these past two weeks,” she says between laughs. Martien immediately understands what she means. “Love sickness?” he says, to which she nods. At that time, the relationship with Joris, whom she knew through the Bachelorette, had only been going on for two weeks.

Deep conversations

Maxime immediately expresses her surprise about Sylvia and Joris’ break-up. “I really liked the two of you so much,” she says. The relationship also lasted quite a long time and after the Bachelorette they seem perfect for each other. It is therefore logical that she suffered from this for a while. This meant she couldn’t get a bite down her throat and she slept poorly. “Heartbreak is terrible,” says Sylvia. “That’s a kind of mourning, isn’t it.” Speaking of grieving: after this revelation about Sylvia’s breakup, the conversations between her and the Meiland family remain in-depth. She clearly also feels at home in the guest house, where leopard print has been used in the stairwell. “Nice too, leopard print on the ceiling. How did you get there?” she shouts enthusiastically. “Yes, I really liked it,” Martien responds, to which Sylvia says again: “Yes, I understand!” The hysteria is certainly present, but then it becomes a bit more profound when Sylvia takes her Bible out of the bag. She also appears to have experienced something intense in the past. She went through a rather difficult period of mourning after her sister died due to an addiction.

Deceased sister

The candid conversation arises with Erica and Maxime, after they have arranged a massage for Sylvia. In the course of time, she also feels comfortable with Erica and later they only get together more. At one point during the relaxing back massage, Maxime starts talking about Sylvia’s sister, whom she lost at a young age. Sylvia herself was fifteen at the time and her sister died at the age of 21. Fiercely! “She didn’t take very good care of herself,” Sylvia says. “She came into contact with the wrong people and she was just too sweet, too naive and too good. She couldn’t handle the world well.”

Addiction

Erica then joins the conversation because she recognizes herself in the story. “My sister grew up in the wild 70s,” she begins, after which she talks about their move from the east of the Netherlands to the ‘big city’ Sassenheim. Erica’s sister could not handle this well. “It builds up and then at some point someone offers you a pill,” she says. “That you will feel better. And one thing leads to another.” It turns out that both Erica’s sister and Sylvia’s sister were addicted to drugs. Actually, Sylvia never talks about her deceased sister. She just finds that too difficult. “When I think of her, I think: she is in my heart,” she says. Erica actually finds it easy to talk about it. “I also think it’s important,” she says. “You know, it is what it is. It’s sad and it should never have happened, but hey… it’s part of life.”
