He imagined it differently! After the Mail on Sunday newspaper published an article about Prince Harry’s (39) battle with the Home Office for full royal security protection, the royal filed a lawsuit accusing those responsible of defamation. Now, however, the royal has to cope with a setback. The court dismisses the lawsuit – instead, Harry now has to dig deep into his pockets.
This is now reported by the Independent, among others. The judge responsible decided that the Duke has until December 29th to pay the 56,563 euros in legal fees to the newspaper publisher Associated Newspapers. The lawyer is said to have justified his decision by saying that the publisher had a real chance of asserting his counterarguments. If Harry fails to make the payment and the parties cannot agree on a settlement, there should be a trial in May or July 2024.
This is not the first time that Harry has sued a newspaper. Already in the summer of this year, the monarch was in court with the English media company Mirror Group Newspapers after accusing him of listening to his phone calls for years.
