Since the corona pandemic, working from home has become increasingly normal. It often happens in some professions and, for example, if you study, you will often have to work at home. But this is not always easy. Are you bad at working from home? This way you make it easier for yourself.
Create a nice workplace for yourself
Being able to concentrate on your work is not always easy when you work from home. There are so many things at home that can distract you. For this reason it is so important to have a nice workplace. If you can work in a separate room, we definitely recommend this. This means you won’t get distracted by, for example, washing the dishes, doing your laundry or that one other job that still needs to be done. Then also ensure a neat and organized workplace. Only put things on your desk that are useful while you work. This way, maintaining your concentration becomes a lot easier.
Work with a fixed schedule
The nice thing about working on location is the routine. You go to work at a fixed time, have lunch around a fixed time and go home around the same time. Although fixed start and end times do exist for some work-from-home jobs, you are often responsible for when you work. This makes it easy to hit snooze, but you can also quickly overwork yourself. After all, there is no group of colleagues who can tell you that the day is over. This can also cause you to postpone your lunch enormously. It is therefore good to work with a fixed schedule. This way you create a routine and have more structure in your day.
Go work somewhere else
Working in the same place every day, alone, can get quite boring after a while. This can reduce your motivation. So go work somewhere else for variety. Think of the house of another colleague who works from home, a nice coffee shop or a public library. This also means you surround yourself with people and the work feels a lot less lonely.
Reward yourself
If you’re really struggling with putting yourself to work, sometimes it’s necessary to reward yourself for your hard work. Positive associations are always good to motivate yourself. For example, reward yourself with a nice lunch or a nice movie at the end of your working day. This gives you something to look forward to and hopefully makes the day fly by a lot faster.
Go outside for a moment
Home workers often stay indoors all day. This isn’t very good for you. Fresh air and vitamin D keep a person healthy, both mentally and physically. Therefore, make it a routine to go outside every day. Take a short walk during your break or after your workday. Getting some fresh air sometimes really works wonders.
