A rare dose of giggles from the sisters-in-law!
Where in the past the royals mainly showed themselves in all their stately elegance (straight backs, gaze into infinity, affable smile), nowadays their appearances often have a more earthy, spontaneous character. Chatting with the locals, kicking a ball around, carrying out your royal duties with a burst of laughter – that’s how we like it! The fact that Princesses Stéphanie and Charlene now also seem to have discovered this caused some surprise among the Glamial editors.
Static
We love the Grimaldis, let’s say that first. The scandals, the juice, the drama, the designer fashion and the excess – we can’t get enough of it. But with all the royal appearances over the years, it has been noticed that some people seem to enjoy royal duties more than others.
In general, we can only catch Princess Stéphanie with a particularly frugal smile…
…And Charlene has made it an art to laugh without a hint of joy behind her eyes.
Besties
The fact that these two of all people were captured last night embracing each other enthusiastically was quite a surprise.
The setting for the sweet moment between the two sisters-in-law was the Fight Aids Cup, an annual charity event in Monaco. Naturally, the Grimaldis appear in large numbers, but all kinds of Monegasque prominent figures and celebrities also show themselves at their sporty best. Louis Ducruet, F1 driver Charles Leclerc and ex-professional footballer Claude Makélélé, among others, showed their football skills and were cheered on by a delegation of Grimaldis and other sports enthusiasts.
For a tenner you could get a ticket for this match – all proceeds of which will go to Fight Aids Monaco. With such a great goal, it doesn’t matter anymore whether you win or lose, nun?
Bitter battle
With a load of prominent figures and top athletes on the field, this match was quite tough. It’s nice that you play for a good cause, but of course all those top sports egos just want to walk away with the win.
There was also a lot of family pride at stake. For example, the ‘Barbagiuans’ led by Louis Ducruet played on behalf of Prince Albert himself, and ‘Cirque FC’ represented Princess Stéphanie. In the end, the princess’s team won after a final score of 2-3. And the sisters-in-law are clearly having a lot of fun with that!
Poor Albert, he will have to listen to this for another year from his sister and his wife… Better luck next year, Your Highness!
