Make-up tips for sports

If you exercise regularly, it can be difficult to determine which makeup is best to wear while exercising.

Make-up can quickly run or melt off your face, especially if you start to sweat. That is why it is important to choose the right makeup that suits your skin type and sports activity.

I have a lot of experience with sports and makeup and have therefore collected a number of useful tips to ensure that your makeup stays on during exercise. This way you can still look good and feel confident while exercising, without having to worry about your makeup smearing.

In this article I will show you which make-up products are suitable for exercise and how to best apply them. Whether you go running, horse riding, yoga or fitness, with these make-up tips you are always assured of a fresh and radiant look while exercising.

Importance of makeup while exercising

As someone who exercises regularly, I understand the value of makeup while exercising. Some may wonder why makeup is necessary while exercising. But for me it’s a way to feel good and increase my self-confidence. It is important to remember that makeup while exercising is not essential and that wearing it is personal.

If you wear makeup while exercising, it’s important to know which products work best.

Foundations that close the pores in your face and heavy concealers can quickly cause breakouts and bad skin, especially when you start to sweat. It is therefore wise to opt for lighter products such as a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream, which do not completely seal the skin and are less likely to melt off your face.

If you wear makeup while exercising, it’s also important to remember that sweat and dirt can build up in the pores of your skin.

It is therefore wise to thoroughly cleanse your face before exercising and cleanse it again after exercise to reduce any accumulation of sweat and dirt. It is also important to remember that makeup is not meant to be worn while swimming as it can run and get into your eyes.

Tips for choosing the right makeup

Choose water-resistant makeup

When exercising, it is important to choose makeup that stays in place and does not run due to sweat. Therefore, choose water-resistant makeup. This ensures that your makeup stays in place, even if you sweat.

Water-resistant makeup is available in different types, such as mascara, foundation and eyeliner. Make sure that you remove this makeup properly after exercise to prevent clogged pores and skin irritations.

In addition, it is also important to choose makeup that suits your skin type. Do you have dry skin? Then choose moisturizing makeup. Do you have oily skin? Then choose mattifying make-up.

When you exercise, you start to sweat, whether it’s walking or horse riding (is horse riding a sport? It really is!). That is why it is good to start your sports session well prepared. You may not expect it, but that sweat will come!

Make-up tips for sports

Start with clean skin

Before I start exercising, I make sure that my skin is properly cleansed and that I have applied a moisturizing cream. This helps to prepare my skin for a sweaty gym session. When I exercise outside, I apply at least SPF30 to my face, neck, ears and décolleté to protect my skin from the sun.

Use lightweight makeup

Foundations close the pores in my face and can quickly cause pimples and bad skin when I sweat.

That’s why I choose a lighter makeup primer, BB cream or a tinted moisturizer when exercising. These products do not completely seal my skin and also stay in place better during exercise.

Avoid shiny makeup

Shiny makeup can quickly look unnatural during exercise. That’s why I choose matte make-up products, such as a matte bronzer or blush. This gives my skin a natural look and ensures that my makeup stays in place better.

Use waterproof mascara

It can quickly become warm during exercise and regular mascara can run out. That’s why I always use waterproof mascara, so that my mascara stays in place and doesn’t run out when I start to sweat.

Use lip balm with SPF

To protect my lips from the sun, I always use lip balm with SPF. This prevents my lips from drying out and protects them from the sun’s harmful rays.

Conclusion

When it comes to makeup while exercising, there are some important things to keep in mind. First, it’s important to remember that wearing makeup while exercising isn’t always the best choice. Sweat and heat can cause makeup to melt and settle into pores, leading to clogged pores and breakouts.

In addition, I always make sure that I have eaten easily digestible food, otherwise it will be very uncomfortable on my stomach during exercise.

If you still want to wear makeup while exercising, there are some tips you can follow to keep your skin healthy. Opt for lighter makeup products such as a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, instead of heavy foundations that can clog pores. Also make sure you cleanse your skin well before exercising, and use a moisturizer to prepare your skin for the sweaty session.

If you exercise outdoors, it is important to use sunscreen with at least SPF30 to protect your skin against the harmful effects of the sun. Don’t forget to also rub your neck, ears and décolleté.

Ultimately, it’s important to remember that makeup while exercising is optional. If you don’t feel comfortable wearing makeup while exercising, that’s okay. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and can focus on achieving your fitness goals.
