With King Charles and Princess Kate in the doldrums, the rest of the Windsors now have to step up their game to fill the royal agendas. Yesterday, Sophie, the Countess of Edinburgh, appeared for a special visit to the London College of Fashion. Here the countess turned out not to be averse to a fashionable experiment or two!
Fashionable visit
A bit of royalty naturally has the necessary patronages to its name. This also applies to Sophie: the Edinburgh countess is patron of the London College of Fashion (LCF). As it happens, the countess went to take a look yesterday.
The countess was shown around the new campus past all kinds of exhibitions, and apparently had a great time. She allowed herself to be updated by ambitious students…

Designer dress
The Duchess herself appeared in a warm woolen dress by Emilia Wickstead – a New Zealand designer. This lady now has her home base in London and also studied at Central Saint Martins, a school that, like the LCF, falls under the University of the Arts London.
It’s not as on brand as Queen Letizia who recently wore a jacket made in the workshop she visited, but still. In any case, we approve!
New wardrobe
The highlight of the day was probably the moment when the countess herself became part of a fashion experiment. For example, the Duchess chatted with some students from the Digital Learning Lab, who have built a way to try on clothes digitally.

Who knows: will Sophie appear in a custom jacket from the LCF students on her next visit? In any case, it seems to suit the countess on screen – although we have our doubts about whether these eye-catching jackets suit Sophie’s classic taste. Who knows!
