Today is ‘Act Kind Day’. Being kind to your fellow man feels like something we do anyway, but you can always be a little extra kind to the people around you. This is how you can be extra kind to your fellow man today.
Keep the door open
One of the simplest ways to be kind to your fellow man is to help them in small ways. Opening the door yourself is of course not much effort, but you can still help someone enormously with it. So be sure to look in front and behind you when you open a door. If there is someone nearby who also wants to go through the door, hold it open for them. Even small gestures can have a big impact.
Offer help
Do you see someone who needs help today? Then by all means offer it. Think of someone who can’t reach something in the supermarket or someone who has dropped something that you can pick up and give back. You can also offer help to the important people in your life. Think of helping your partner or housemate with the laundry, dishes or other cleaning chores. Help your parents cook or offer a brother or sister to help them study for a test.
Give a spontaneous compliment
Compliments can significantly improve your mood. So make it a point to compliment people today. For example, if you see someone walking with the nicest shoes you have ever seen, tell them this! Also compliment people on things they have done. Let others know how proud you are of them, this can really mean a lot to someone.
Let someone else go first
We’re all busy and we’re all in a hurry. If you have some extra time today, you can use it to help other people. Be friendly and let someone with only a few groceries go first at the checkout, for example.
Smile
Are you unable to physically help someone? Then you can always be friendly by putting on your best smile. Greeting someone with a smile is much nicer than with a grumpy frown! Smile at the people you meet today. Think of the conductor on the train, the cashier in the supermarket and the neighbor!
Have a chat
Would you like to take a more daring approach to your kindness? Then you can always see if you can have a chat with someone. Think of store employees, people you meet on public transport or other people you bump into during the day. You might learn something new or make new friends. Some people will also attach great importance to this simple gesture.
