When Delfina Chaves and Martijn Lakemeier played the role of lovebirds Máxima and Willem-Alexander for the Videoland series Máxima, sparks also flew between the leading actors on the set. We have now finished the first season in one go and are eagerly awaiting the sequel. What we are secretly also very curious about is how things are going between Martijn and Delfina.
Great success
The very first season of the Máxima series is over and we can say that it is a great success. The Videoland series has broken all records and has already been sold to several countries. In case you missed it, we would like to catch you up: Máxima is based on the book Motherland: The Early Years of Máxima Zorreguieta by Marcia Luyten, and tells the story of Queen Máxima’s life – from her younger years in Argentina to her current life as Queen of the Netherlands. The starting point of the series is the first meeting of Máx and Willem-Alexander in 1999.
Martijn is very happy with the success of the series. “It’s really cool. A very broad audience seems to really like it,” he says modestly in front of the Shownieuws camera. Will success mean anything to his career? “Well, that’s hard to say, but I hope so,” said the actor.
Spark skipped
Not only do sparks fly between Martijn and Delfina on screen, they are also very happy together in real life. The spark flew on the set. “We always had a lot of fun while working,” she previously told RTL Boulevard. Although the actress also admitted that the recordings often took a long time and that they really worked hard. Fortunately, the love birds had a lot of support from each other. “I feel like we kept each other good company,” said the brunette. “And yes, there is chemistry between us,” she concluded then. Aww!
Long distance relationship
The two protagonists are also deeply in love with each other in real life! However, there is one small thing: Delfina lives in Argentina and Martijn lives in the Netherlands. But even though the two have a late relationship, they are still happy together, Martijn confirms to Shownieuws. Does one of the two already have plans to move? “No, we don’t really have a plan for that,” he says. “We are still having fun together and we are also very much looking forward to shooting the second season, because that is also coming. So that first.”
