Some people have more body hair than others. While many are unsure about this, there is of course no need for that. It’s nature and that’s beautiful! Esther Calixte-Bea, a 27-year-old activist, has always been insecure about her body hair. Now she hasn’t shaved in five years and she feels sexier than ever. No man is going to change that, but he does have opinions about this.
Rejection due to body hair
When you’re dating, you may discover that this person isn’t quite your match after all. Maybe that person is mean to the wait staff or tells you too often that you are really a feminist and expects a standing ovation. Or, maybe he’s disgusted by your body hair. That’s exactly what happened with Esther. She hasn’t shaved since she was 22 and feels extremely sexy now.
Bullied
It used to be different, because then she was bullied for this. “I didn’t want to swim because it took too much time to remove all my body hair. It grew back after two days and I was left with ingrown hairs and scars,” says Esther. She always pulled up her collar to keep her chest hair from showing. “I was super scared that someone would see this.”
That’s different now, as she now embraces her natural hair and refuses to be part of a society where women are taught that body hair is ‘unsanitary and ugly’. Esther now feels free and a lot happier than before – even if this sometimes causes problems in her dating life.
“He thought I was too hairy”
Esther says she was once dating someone who said he wouldn’t date a woman hairier than himself. Esther decided to end this relationship because it didn’t feel right to stay with such a person. Despite this ‘awkward’ moment, there are plenty of men who are completely comfortable with her body hair. “There was a man who really liked me, and I had never told him about my chest hair,” says Esther. Esther thought: if you really like me, you will stay with me, despite my body hair. And yes, he didn’t care at all.
