(Last Updated On: April 5, 2023)

A radiant smile, we all want it. But how can you ensure that you have a radiant smile and radiant teeth?

It’s also important to keep your teeth healthy and strong, so it’s great that these tips will help take care of both your dental health and the appearance of your teeth!

My electric toothbrush has a timer that beeps every 2 minutes: I am supposed to divide my teeth into 4 areas, and each part is then brushed for 2 minutes. Very handy, because I’m often still cleaning up and walking around upstairs (and therefore not completely ‘attended’ to keep track of whether I’ve been cleaning long enough).

7. Brush your tongue too:

Bacteria can collect on the tongue, causing bad breath and discolored teeth. Use a soft toothbrush to brush your tongue every day.

Or, you can also use a tongue scraper. This always takes some getting used to in the beginning, but it works very well. Even if you often suffer from smelly breath, you should definitely try this!

8. Take care of your gums:

If you don’t care for your gums, plaque can build up and cause discoloration around the gum line.

Gently brush around the gums with a soft-bristled brush and floss after every meal to prevent staining your teeth.

Also try not to scrub your gums too rigorously, as that will not help you at all. It is very important to also keep your gums healthy, otherwise they will recede.

Do you often suffer from bleeding gums while brushing? Then you are left with inflamed gums that you need to do something about. Be sure to visit your dentist for advice and be sure to brush your gums thoroughly and learn how to really floss properly.

Rinse with fluoride-containing mouthwash after brushing your teeth and hold it in your mouth for a few minutes (do not rinse): this ensures that the fluoride in the mouthwash can really take effect.

9. Visit the dentist regularly:

Visiting the dentist regularly can help you detect problems early, such as cavities, gum disease and tooth decay – all factors that can also cause discoloration.

Definitely try to visit your dentist every year. Also be sure to check the reimbursement of your visit by your insurance. For example, I have to go to the dentist every year as standard to still be entitled to dental insurance, it is always useful to know such things.

10. Eat and drink as little sugar as possible:

Sugary foods and drinks can lead to discoloration caused by bacteria feeding on the sugar. Worse still: cavities!

Limit your consumption of sugary snacks and drinks, and brush your teeth after eating (but wait half an hour or you’ll brush away your enamel).

By following these tips, you can maintain a bright smile and healthy teeth that will help you look and feel your best!
