And it’s very easy.
Do you always wear silver jewelry, or are you team gold? Or maybe you are a fan of the mix & match trend. That is based on your personal preference, simply what you like. But did you know that there is also a method with which you can find out which color best suits the undertone of your skin?
Determine undertone
It was sometimes thought that women with blonde hair should choose silver items and that gold jewelry suits women with brown or black hair best. Although we see this a lot, it is not always the case. Your skin, especially the undertone of your skin, plays a major role in which color jewelry suits you best.
Fortunately, finding out what your undertone is is not that difficult. “To find this out, all you have to do is hold a piece of white paper next to your face,” makeup artist Sarah-Jane Froom explains to Stylist. “If you look a bit yellow or gold, it means you have an olive/gold undertone. If you look a bit red or pink, it means you have a cool undertone.” In addition, it is also possible that you do not spot either of them in yourself. “In that case you have a neutral undertone.”
Gold or silver
Based on your undertone you can determine which color suits you, Froom explains. “Gold jewelry looks best on those with olive or gold undertones, and silver is better suited to cool undertones.” The makeup artist therefore recommends that you look carefully at the color of your undertone to ensure that you wear the right color jewelry. Although in the end it all comes down to what you like best.
Look at your wrist
There is also another trick to find out which undertone you have. And it may be easier than the method Froom recommended. This way you can also look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. Are those blue? Then this means that you have a cool undertone. Do your veins look more green? Then you have a warm undertone. And you can’t really distinguish whether you have blue or green veins? Then you can determine that you have a neutral undertone. In the latter case you are lucky. Both gold and silver jewelry look good on people with a neutral undertone.
Rose
In addition to silver and gold, there are of course also rose-colored jewelry. Although this color is less often spotted, it is an elegant color. Rosé looks best with warm undertones and people with neutral undertones. Not that surprising, when you think about it. Naturally, you have rose gold and rose-colored jewelry goes perfectly with gold jewelry.
