The crème de la crème of the Dutch musical world had dressed up!
Last night expectations were high in the AFAS Theater in Leusden. The 22nd presentation of the Musical Awards took place there. Of course it was about those coveted statues, but in our opinion there were also plenty of winning looks on the red carpet.
Musical Awards Gala
Naturally, some of the editorial staff of Glamial were also present at the fantastic gala yesterday, where they could indulge their glamour-loving hearts in all the beauty that passed in review on the red carpet and on stage.
Now that we’re one day in, it’s time to take stock and round up some of our favorite looks.
Looks
There was a lot going on on the red carpet. So of course we saw a good dose of glitter!

It’s clear: no glamor without glitter. Of course you won’t hear us complaining about this!
We also saw a dose of classic glamor on the red carpet. From the fairytale look of Michelle van de Ven to the old Hollywood glam of Magtel de Laat and the wonderful lady in red look of Henriëtte Tol: we can’t get enough of this. The top hat with Stanley Burleson’s deep green suit is also a winner in our opinion!

There were also many lovely bright colors on the red carpet. For example, Jeangu Macrooy and Hélène Hendriks both dressed in bold red looks…
…And we are absolutely in love with this bright orange look from Carolina Dijkhuizen.
However, no one brought as much color to the red carpet as the cast of Sister Act.
April Darby is clearly shining, and we can’t wait to see this cast in action later this year!

Big winners
As expected, Jesus Christ Superstar was the big winner of the evening. The musical managed to earn six of its fourteen (!) nominations, and took home the prizes for Best Major Musical, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Direction, Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design. The musical Melk, about motherhood, surprised with an impressive five awards. The coveted audience award ultimately went to De Tocht, a musical about the Elfstedentocht that is actually played on the ice.
Spectacular performances
Of course you can’t have a Musical Awards Gala without a thunderous show. Fortunately, we didn’t lack anything in that area either! As far as we were concerned, a highlight of the evening was the beautiful performance of My life is mine by Pia Douwes and Danique Dusée.
They will together take on the role of the legendary Empress Sisi in the upcoming production of Elisabeth. And this taste immediately leaves you wanting more.
In any case, we can’t wait!
