Good news: King Charles is present at the Easter service

The decision suggests a good feeling from the king’s doctors.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles and King Camilla will attend the Easter service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle this weekend. Royal aides also revealed that the couple will be ‘joined by other members of the Royal Family’. However, no other names were mentioned.

Cancer

It was quiet around Charles in recent weeks. The king has been treated for cancer since the beginning of February, after having surgery for an enlarged prostate. As a result, Charles has not attended any major events recently. For example, he recently missed the funeral of Sir Thomas Kingston.

The king could only be seen at audiences and private affairs. Charles’ decision to attend the Easter service is therefore seen as important. It suggests that the king’s doctors currently think Charles is doing well enough to allow him to attend the Easter service.

Easter service

Charles and Camilla go to the Easter service, which lasts an hour, according to the chapel’s website, from a quarter to eleven to a quarter to twelve. Holy Communion will take place before the service and after the service there will be a Eucharistic celebration, followed by evening singing.

William and Kate

Unlike usual, according to insiders of the British press, the service will not be a large family gathering, as Charles does not want to come into contact with too many people for the sake of his health.

Prince William and Princess Kate will in any case not be present at the Easter service. After all, Kate recently released the news that she has been diagnosed with a form of cancer. She is currently being treated for this and has already started chemotherapy. The king said he was ‘in close contact with his beloved daughter-in-law’ and was ‘proud of Catherine for speaking out like this’. They spend their Easter with a well-deserved holiday in Norfolk.

For now, William will continue to support his wife and family, while also carrying out official duties as he has done since Kate’s surgery in January. William will resume his public duties when his children return to school after the Easter holidays.
