Ah!
In the morning we have our daily make-up routine and for a party we apply a little extra in the evening. Sometimes we just can’t seem to live without corpses. Even though we love getting dressed up, it takes a lot of time, right?
Research
Previous research, conducted by The Today Show in collaboration with AOL, took a closer look at how much time we actually spend with our appearance. From teenage girls to elderly ladies – how many hours do we actually spend on our looks per week?
This study also looked at the effects makeup had on women. Not only did the teenagers surveyed have something negative to say about their appearance, sixty percent of adult women were also negative.
The men who were examined were a lot more positive, 36 percent were negative. For both women and men, body problems mainly focused on their abdomen, thinning hair and skin problems.
The difference between mothers and women without children was also surprising. More mothers emphasized their appearance than women without children, but the study also took into account that some of these women with children fear their appearance has an effect on their children.
Time commitment
But how much time do we actually spend on our appearance? The research showed that this is probably quite a few more hours than you might expect. Both teenagers over the age of sixteen and adults were asked how much attention they paid to their appearance and what effect this had on their daily lives.
It showed that women spend 55 minutes a day on their hair and makeup. So we are talking about 335 hours of haircare and make-up per year, or almost two full weeks! We could also have spent this time at a beautiful holiday destination – but without a bright lipstick…
Save time
To save some time in the morning, you can add dry shampoo to your hair routine. It absorbs the natural oils, which not only creates volume, but also allows you to postpone a wash just a little longer. After all, we all know how annoying it is to wash your hair in the morning and also have to style it…
And for a short make-up routine: Use your lipstick as blush. Besides matching your cheeks with your lips, it also saves time. Blend the color with your fingers and voilà: you look radiant again.
