As sad as the story of the late Princess Diana ended, she is remembered so fondly. Everyone still seems to want a piece of Diana, and the princess’s most bizarre belongings are sold at auctions: from her ball gowns to personal letters. If your wallet doesn’t allow you to buy such items (they sell for decent amounts), there may be another Diana item you can put on your wish list. Harry has revealed which perfume his mother always wore.
Royal favorites
We know exactly what products various royal ladies have on their royal dressing table. For example, we know from Fashion Queen Máxima that our queen is a big fan of the scent Shalimar, from Guerlain – an oriental, elegant scent with a sensual edge.
Princess Kate would opt for a classic floral perfume, with British brand Jo Malone as a big favorite. What Kate Wore founder Susan Kelley once said that, according to sources, Kate always smells great. “I’ve seen people on social media bump into Kate when she was shopping and say she smells amazing, like raspberries and fruit – very clean, fresh scents.”
Diana’s favorites
Although much has been written about the late Lady Di’s favorite eau de toilette, Prince Harry makes a definitive revelation about his mother’s favorite scent in his book Spare (or Reserve, in Dutch).
The Duke of Sussex openly talks about how he brought a bottle of Diana’s favorite perfume to a therapy session to help himself get through his trauma. “I had checked the name with Mummy’s sister. ‘First’, by Van Cleef & Arpels. At the beginning of our session, I opened the bottle and inhaled deeply,” the prince writes, before comparing the experience to a dose of LSD.
“I remembered a day at Ludgrove (his school, ed.), and Mom hid sweets in my sock. Sweets from outside the school were forbidden, so mom ignored the school rules while giggling, which made me love her even more,” the prince continues his memories of his mother. And so all that was released by one pinch of that perfume.
Affordable bouquet
The best part is that this perfume is still in production today, and you can buy it for not too much money. In most places, a bottle of the scent is available for less than a hundred euros. In any case, we’ll put it on our wish list!
