The royals saw the win pass them by!
Of course, football fans are currently waiting impatiently for the kick-off of the European Championship next month. But the real experts? They of course followed the fantastic football match that was again organized this week in Skaugum Stadium by the Norwegian court.
Royal match
It doesn’t stop with the sporty royals! After the Danish Royal Run and Queen Mathilde running past her own palace during a Brussels running race, it was now Norway’s turn. The annual football match at the Skaugum estate took place there again, where the crown prince’s family showed themselves at their most fanatical.
Skaugum Stadium
The driveway of the estate, which will be renamed Skaugum Stadium for the occasion with the necessary fanfare, was again the setting for the football match this week.

It was the ninth time that Skaugum United – the official unofficial football team of the Crown Prince Family – organized the charity match. Crown Princess Mette-Marit acted as coach, and Crown Prince Haakon and son Sverre Magnus were accompanied on the field by several Norwegian football players. They competed against Røa Unified Kids. This association is committed to making football accessible to younger children with disabilities.
Victory
Footage from the big day shows that captain and goalkeeper Sverre Magnus is no match for the talents of Røa Unified, and unfortunately the Crown Prince team is still behind when the final whistle sounds.

In any case, it will not have been due to Mette’s coaching, as is evident from the many snapshots in which she can be seen cheering enthusiastically.

Or could it be that Prince Haakon did not put his best foot forward?

On Instagram, the Norwegian court writes: “It was too big a task for Team Skaugum when they met Røa Unified for a friendly match of running football. After a goal-rich match, the narrow victory went to the talented players of Røa.”
Friendly match
Ultimately, the competition is of course all about charity. And that’s why the two teams wanted to take a photo with each other afterwards:

Keen viewers may notice that future Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra was conspicuously absent during the match. Her Highness is currently busy with her military training, and has therefore exchanged her parental home (including the stadium) for soldier barracks.
Who knows, maybe the princess will be back next year – perhaps she will be able to win for Skaugum United!
