A supportive message from Queen Bey: exactly what Meg needed at that moment.
Harry and Meghan’s documentary: at the end of last year it was about nothing else. In the documentary, the ex-royals told their story in detail, and they looked back on the much-discussed interview with Oprah Winfrey. Who was there for Meghan after that broadcast? None other than Beyoncé.
Oprah interview
For weeks, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the news every day with their much-discussed Netflix documentary. In the sixth episode of their controversial Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan look back on the Oprah interview and the much media attention they received as a result.
The much-discussed interview with Oprah took place in 2021. In it, Harry and Meghan talked for the first time about their choice to step back from the British royal family and move to America. After that interview, the royal couple was flooded with reactions from all over the world. And not all of them were equally positive. Shortly after that interview, Meghan received a text message. And not from just anyone, but from Beyoncé.
Support from Beyoncé
The world star wanted to support Meghan. “Beyoncé just texted, just checking in… I still can’t believe she knows who I am,” the duchess says in the episode about the text message. “She said, ‘She wants me to feel safe and protected. She admires and respects my bravery and vulnerability and thinks I was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed.’”
