The Princess of Wales will make a public appearance this spring.
It was quite a surprise when it was announced at the beginning of this year that Princess Kate had undergone major surgery. Due to the lack of information from Kensington Palace, the craziest rumors circulated about her well-being, but we now know that Kate is alive and well. In fact, her first official royal duty has now been announced!
Trooping the Colour
The British Ministry of Defense confirmed that the Princess of Wales will attend the Trooping the Color event on June 8, 2024. This is a ceremony held annually in honor of the king’s birthday. It is a grand spectacle, in which approximately 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians participate every year.
A total of three different parades are held for Trooping the Color. The official birthday parade for King Charles III will take place on Saturday, June 15, and according to the British Army website, there will be a parade attended by Princess Kate the Saturday before.
Kensington Palace
Despite the announcement from the Ministry of Defense, we are still a little wary: spokespersons for Kensington Palace refuse to confirm the presence of the Princess of Wales. Still, we have high hopes, because Buckingham Palace previously announced that Kate would not perform any duties until Easter. Then June 8 should almost work, nun?
Operation
Trooping the Color is the first event this year where Kate has (more or less) been confirmed to attend. Since her operation, Kate has been out of action for a while, and recently she has been able to recover from her procedure in peace and privacy. However, some photos of Her Highness have now been leaked. In those images, you can see Kate sitting next to mother Carole Middleton in the car, reportedly to pick up the Wales offspring from school.
