The Duchess appears alongside a number of big names.
It looks like Harry and Meghan have had a good sit down with their team, because in recent weeks the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been busier than we’ve seen them in a long time! While they used to be mainly in the news for their royal scandals, they now seem to focus more on all kinds of events that fit their charity path. Meghan will appear at a special event in Texas this week.
SXSW
Perhaps the name SXSW doesn’t mean much to you, but South By Southwest is a household name on the other side of the ocean: here Hollywood celebs, studio bigwigs, pop stars, business people and emerging talent come together for a dazzling cultural festival.
This year, among them is none other than the Duchess of Sussex! This Friday, during the festival’s kick-off, Meghan will participate in a panel called Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen. Completely appropriate, considering it is International Women’s Day.
Activism
In addition, gender equality is of course very important to Meghan, who has been speaking out for a good cause from an early age. Not a bad choice for such a panel! In addition to Meghan, news anchor Katie Couric, actress Brooke Shields, and sociologist and consultant Nancy Wang Yuen will also participate in the panel discussion. Podcast host Errin Haines will moderate the discussion.

The festival itself states about the panel: “The representation of women in media and entertainment has come a long way, but there is still much to improve, especially for women of color and mothers. The continued presence of social media has raised the bar even higher, creating an often dangerous environment that causes serious mental health problems, especially among teenage girls.”
The ladies on the panel are all “visionary female leaders,” according to the organization, and Meghan is specifically described as a “feminist, advocate for human rights and gender equality.” Some nice kudos to the Duchess!
Fresh start
Halfway through last month, the Sussexes also caused a big surprise by completely overhauling their personal website. When you visit Harry and Meghan’s former website – Archewell.com – you will now automatically be redirected to the new domain: Sussex.com. Here you will find biographies of Harry and Meghan, which explain what the royals are involved in and what they stand for. For example, a quote in both biographies reads: ‘The Duke and Duchess are committed to their mission: Show Up, Do Good. They believe that charity work should not just be a gift, but rather a hand to hold.” In addition, the many (charitable) organizations in which the couple is involved are linked at the bottom of the biographies.
So it looks like the duo is finally done with all the royal drama and is back to more important matters. In any case, we are very curious to see what Meghan has to say next Friday!
