Although Princess Kate has been spotted in public for the first time since her abdominal surgery in January, the rumor mill continues to churn about the reason behind her lengthy absence. According to sources, William is said to be having an affair with Lady Sarah Rose Hanbury. This alleged mistress of the prince is now making herself heard.
Affair
Rumors have been going around for years that William has a secret relationship with Sarah Rose, a good friend of the royal family. Kate’s absence prompted many tabloid media and royalty watchers to take this a step further. The crown prince couple is said to be having relationship problems due to the alleged affair, and there was even speculation about a possible divorce. This would have been a reason for Kate to (temporarily) step out of the spotlight.
Never complain, never explain
Good: within the palace walls the motto ‘Never complain, never explain’ is of course firmly adhered to, and so neither Kate nor William have ever made any statements about these rumors. However, the one who is now speaking out about the far-reaching speculation is Sarah Rose.
The Late Show
Prince William’s alleged mistress has never spoken out about the matter, but likely felt compelled to do so when the topic was recently discussed on The Late Show. Host Stephen Colbert threw some light on the rumors about William’s alleged girlfriend. “And we all know who this ‘other’ woman is,” he said on the show. “The Marchioness of Cholmondeley”, referring to her official title.
“There have been rumors since 2019 that the two were having an affair. According to several tabloids, Kate has already confronted William about this once, after which he laughingly denied it. Which is of course always a good reaction when your wife accuses you of cheating,” said the sneering presenter.
Nonsense
The episode must not have gone unnoticed by Sarah Rose herself, because through her lawyer she is now speaking plainly about the rumors. “The rumors are complete nonsense,” the statement read. Nothing more, nothing less. Clear language!
