For the commemoration of D-Day, Máxima had her dark blue coat remade (again).
The Royal Couple and Prime Minister Rutte attended the international commemoration of D-Day this afternoon on Omaha Beach, France. Defense Minister Ollongren is also present. Today marks eighty years since the liberation of Western Europe began with D-Day.
Veterans, soldiers and other royals, as well as government leaders of allied countries, are also present at the commemoration on Omaha Beach.

The coat from fashion house Natan debuted in March 2023, with six shiny buttons.

The six buttons were removed to commemorate our country’s slavery past. The decoration on the hat refers to the Angisa, the Surinamese-Creole headscarf that was previously worn by female slaves on the plantations. The base is a square starched cloth, which is folded in a zigzag manner.

The buttons were put back on the jacket for the commemoration in Normandy. Keti Koti’s hat, which was made by Máxima’s maid Jolanda, was also used. All in all a beautiful, modest picture. Well done!
Queen Mathilde, in turn, wore a sand-colored cloak.
