Albert turned 90 today, and this is being celebrated with some beautiful photos.
A special milestone for the Belgian King Albert: he celebrates his 90th birthday today! In honor of this day, the court unveils a special ‘three generation’ portrait of Albert with his son Filip and granddaughter Elisabeth.
Three generations
On Instagram, the Belgian royal family commemorates King Albert’s special birthday. They share some beautiful new photos of the different generations in the line of succession. “King Albert II turns 90 today! 🎂 We celebrate his birthday with new portraits of King Albert, the King and Princess Elisabeth. Three generations together. 🫶,” says the caption below the photos.

For the occasion, both gentlemen put on a suit with a cheerful blue tie, but the show is somewhat stolen by granddaughter Elisabeth. She is wearing a fantastic suit with satin accents from the Jigsaw brand. Chic and elegant, such a royal blue color. This outfit is not new, because the princess previously wore it when she received a highly honored visit from none other than Barack Obama.
Birthday Albert
The fact that Albert can blow out 90 candles today is quite special. It is the first time in history that a Belgian monarch has been allowed to reach this age! His father, King Leopold, reached the age of 82. The birthday was extensively celebrated last Tuesday. Together with Queen Paola, Prince Lorenz, Princess Luisa and Princess Astrid, Albert went for a bite to eat at a sushi place in Antwerp. How wonderfully normal they have all remained!
Health
Although it is of course wonderful that the king has been able to reach this age, over the years more and more health problems have arisen. During his holiday last month he became unwell, and last year he was admitted to hospital due to dehydration and a blood infection. For this he had to stay in the Saint-Luc hospital for eight days, and fortunately the problems were resolved in time.
In any case, we wish him much happiness and health for the coming year!
