Wasn’t it her fault? Prince Harry (39) and his wife Duchess Meghan (42) turned their backs on the British royal family in 2020 and gave up their royal duties. Many royal fans saw the former actress as responsible for the resignation and made serious accusations against her. But Harry already indicated in 2017 that he no longer wanted to be part of the British royal family!
As Daily Mail reported at the time, the Duke of Sussex spoke in an interview seven years ago about wanting to lead a normal life. “I felt like I wanted to get out, but then I decided to stay and find a role for myself,” he reportedly told a reporter at the time. Ultimately, he decided to remain part of the royal family out of loyalty to Queen Elizabeth II (✝96). Nevertheless, he wanted a quiet life for his future children: “I am determined to lead a relatively normal life. And if I am lucky enough to have children, they can too.”
However, in his last statement regarding his resignation, Harry had taken a completely different tone: As part of his legal dispute with the British Home Office for Police Protection, Harry’s lawyer quoted him as saying at the hearing, according to the BBC: “It was very sad for both of us that my wife and “I was forced to step down from this role and leave the country in 2020.”
