After a wonderful adventure in South Africa for The Bachelorette, Sylvia Geersen and her friend Joris seemed to be doing well. The couple regularly appeared side by side on the red carpet and constantly shared the most romantic pictures on Instagram. It has been quiet on the two’s social media channels for a suspiciously long time, but now Sylvia breaks this silence with a sad message: she and Joris have broken up.

After not having much luck in the area of love, in the last season of The Bachelorette it was Sylvia Geersen’s turn to look for the love of her life. We all know by now that her heart was won in South Africa; Joris was the lucky one who walked away with the model at the end of the program. But it has been eerily quiet on the socials of both parties for a long time now…
Rumors
In The Bachelorette we witnessed how Sylvia eventually fell head over heels for the handsome captain: Joris. We then regularly saw pleasant snapshots of the happy couple on their Instagram accounts. However, when the couple abruptly stopped sharing these sweet pictures, the rumor mill surrounding the couple started working overtime.
At the time, the beauty indicated that there was no reason to panic: the two were still very much in love. “I love Joris very much and Joris loves me,” Sylvia said. She did admit that things have not always been easy for them, partly because their love adventure started on television. “We are of course thrown together. It seemed like we were married off. So basically we skipped everything you normally do when dating.” The long-distance relationship, as a result of Joris’ work as a captain, also caused the couple some trouble at the time.
Official break up
Sylvia has now announced, on the basis of an Instagram story, that she and Joris have – unfortunately – separated. Sad! Before the model starts her story, she shares a sweet throwback of her and Joris.
“With a mix of emotions, Joris and I share with you that we have decided not to continue together,” Sylvia begins her story. She shares that the couple has decided this is the right choice for both of them. “Our time together has been a precious chapter in our lives, filled with love, growth and wonderful memories,” she continued. Aww! The couple cherishes the beautiful moments they shared and looks back on their time together with respect and affection.
Finally, the ex-Bachelorette thanks her followers for the support and love they have given her and Joris during their relationship. “Your presence, understanding and warmth have always supported us,” says Sylvia. For now, the two strive for friendship and respect for each other. “We ask for your understanding and support as we each walk our own path.”
