In February it was already 25 years ago that Abdullah and Rania became king and queen of Jordan. That will be celebrated this year.

Last month, the king and queen attended the raising of the anniversary flag with Crown Prince Hussein and his wife Rajwa, as well as their daughters Princess Iman and Princess Salma. Several family members attended the ceremony, including Princess Miriam of Bulgaria (with the blue cloak), who remarried a cousin of King Abdullah. This day the tomb of King Hussein, the late father of King Abdullah, was also visited. That is probably the reason why most ladies are dressed darkly.

By the way, Princess Rajwa (wife of Crown Prince Hussein) has been out of the picture for a while. Her father died on February 19. Very sad for her.

Queen Rania was present and wore a beautiful traditional cobalt blue dress with all kinds of cheerful colors.

Queen Rania was awarded the Order of the Bejeweled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda (Order of the Renaissance) by her husband King Abdullah on March 6. She received this in recognition of her outstanding services, her leading role in the progress of Jordanian society and her willingness to provide support to Jordanians in all areas. Rania received the Order on International Women’s Day. Together they received women from society at Al Husseiniya Palace.

It’s nice that Rania, like most women, chose a traditional dress here.
