Not entirely surprising, nun?
It is well known that we women need a spacious closet for our beautiful pearls. But it is of course a shame that there are many unused shoes in the closet for various occasions, such as weddings and job applications – which we ultimately never wear again. We will tell you more about how many (unused) slippers women have on average.
Shoe collection
There is actually always a reason to purchase a new pair of pumps, sneakers or boots. Because hello: a new season means a new pair of shoes, nun? If you have already bought brand new slippers, you will need a new pair for a wedding or job application that are just a little bit different. Ultimately we decide not to wear them and they end up in the back of the closet.
On average, women have a larger collection of shoes than men, but that was of course not entirely surprising. According to the website Dresscode.nl, no fewer than 58 percent of women have more than ten pairs of shoes in their closet. For men this percentage is considerably lower, namely 28 percent. Anyway, now those men can make some room for our collection, right?
‘Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world’
Although we women on average have a generous collection of shoes, this does not mean that we actually wear them. 42 percent of women have at least five pairs of unused shoes in their closet, according to the study. But what exactly is that about? The result shows that the lack of comfort is the reason for letting a new pair of shoes get dusty. 61% of women indicate that unused shoes simply do not fit comfortably, for example because the wrong ones were purchased.
In addition, both women and men leave new shoes in the closet, because it is often difficult to combine them with a nice outfit. An outfit can stand or fall depending on the shoes you wear with it. “After all, with a business dress code you don’t wear sneakers, and you don’t wear wellies with a cocktail dress. The right women’s shoes complete your outfit,” Dresscode writes on their site. “We therefore firmly believe in Marylin Monroe’s world-famous statement: ‘Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world’.” And we at Glamial completely agree with that!
