The football world says goodbye to Franz Beckenbauer (✝78). The so-called emperor died last Sunday surrounded by his loved ones after suffering from health problems for several years. Also the former national coach Berti Vogts (77) mourns the loss of his valued companion. The two world champions were on the pitch together for 71 international matches. Well has Bertie a suggestion: This special honor should Franz be bestowed!
“German football is losing its figurehead,” explains Bertie. It is now important to ensure that his name is not forgotten by the next generations of footballers. “Perhaps the DFB should think about it, for example the DFB Cup Franz Beckenbauer to name it,” he suggests in an interview with the Rheinische Post.
Then find Bertie even more words of praise for his old comrade: “He is one of the best footballers of all time, on a par with Pelé, Eusébio, Maradona.” His death is a loss for football around the world.
