A few weeks ago, Thijs Römer was in prison due to charges against him for inappropriate behavior. Also imposed a community service order and mandatory treatment at a mental health institution. In addition to these things, he also had to pay damages of €13,000. Thijs doesn’t have the money for that now, his lawyer confirms that.
No money for compensation
After reporting about Thijs from RTL Boulevard and juice king Yvonne Coldeweijer, Bénédicte Ficq (Thijs’ lawyer) confirms that he cannot pay the compensation at the moment. “What a shame in this world,” she says. “Anyone who cannot pay and has insufficient reserves, such as my client, can request a payment arrangement from the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB). That belongs to every suspect.
This case has put a lot of pressure on income, it is not a matter of not wanting to, but of not being able to. He just can’t do it all at once. He finds that very annoying, if he could have paid it, he would have done so.” This is what his lawyer Bénédicte has to say about this so far.
Case of Thijs Römer
The first accusations about Römer came in about a year and a half ago. He received accusations from Nena that he had shown inappropriate behavior towards her in the past. In addition to this accusation, Thijs also received accusations from two other girls. At the time, it was rumored that he sent dick pics and asked for nude photos and voice messages from the then underage girl. He asked this in exchange for an extra role in the series Moordvrouw. Thijs has admitted that he has crossed a line. He has now served his prison sentence, but there are still a few other matters that need to be completed, including paying the compensation.
The three victims of Thijs were ‘scammed’ that Thijs ultimately did not appeal in the online sex case. They did not see it coming, but were happy with this outcome. It is nice for them that they do not have to go through a process again where they have to tell their story again. “Now the time has finally come for them to start processing things,” says their lawyer. We hope that compensation will also be settled in due time.
