Does this mean good news?
It has now been almost six months since Princess Kate was last spotted in public. At the end of March, the Princess of Wales shared the heartbreaking news of her cancer diagnosis, and since then she has been treated for this terrible disease behind closed doors. Yet things seem to be going better for the princess!
Out and about
Various sources report today that the princess has recently been spotted outdoors more and more often near the Waleses’ palatial home.
The Daily Mail, for example, writes: “The princess has been seen out and about with her family more often in recent weeks, which will seem to many to be a good sign,” according to the tabloid newspaper.
Peace
Yet we don’t have to wait for an official appearance from Kate yet. For example, Kensington Palace emphasized that the princess needed her ‘time and space’ to recover, and that we should not expect the princess to return to her royal duties any time soon.
A ‘senior staff member’ of the British court would have made no bones about it, writes Metro. “We have been very clear that she now needs the space and privacy to recover. She will return to work when she gets the green light from her doctors.”
And if that wasn’t clear enough: last week we also received a similar update from the Waleses’ press office. At that time, a special Taskforce from the Kates Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood released an extensive report, which the princess was said to have been ‘enthusiastic’ about.
A spokesperson for the Crown Prince couple then shared: “The Princess of Wales was the driving force behind the Taskforce, but this should not be seen or referred to as Her Royal Highness returning to her duties,” the spokesperson said.
Get well soon wishes
Although we cannot expect an official return to the spotlight for the time being, Kate continues to receive piles of get-well wishes. The Mirror writes that the Royal Post Office is being overwhelmed with mail for the princess.
Although it is of course always a busy affair at the royal post point for your Highnesses, the quantities would never have been so gigantic before. In addition to cards, entire letters and gift packages are also sent – all to support Catherine. Hopefully the princess feels strengthened by all these expressions of support, and things get a little better every day!
