Can you imagine it? “She even arranged my relationship therapy,” Katja reveals with a somewhat bitter aftertaste.
The art of forgiveness
When Katja Schuurman found out that her friend was cheating on her behind her back, she wrote a ‘vicious letter’ to the mistress in question. Although she was initially quite angry, after a period this emotion turned to forgiveness. “I spoke to her and said, ‘I forgive you.’ But that was mainly for my own peace of mind. After all, anger is of no use.” Katja does not want to say exactly which ex-partner and girlfriend it is about.

In the same interview, Katja emphasizes that she thinks it is important not to stay angry for long. For Katja, forgiving people is a real must, especially when children are involved. She immediately looks back on the relationship she had with a recent ex-partner: Freek van Noortwijk, the father of her daughter Coco. After their breakup, Freek welcomed a son with his new love Emily. “I wish him all the happiness with Emily,” Katja says. “She also seems like a great mom to Coco when my daughter is home with them.”
Not a pleasant pregnancy
Yet not everything is rosy in Katja’s story about her ex-partner Freek. Katja also shares that when she thinks back to the period when she was pregnant with Coco, that time was not always easy for her. She leaves open what exactly she means by this. Still, she says: “Now that I see Freek happy with Emily, I sometimes wonder: why was this so different for me?”
