Three cheers for Isla Elizabeth Phillips!
Hip Hip, hooray! Today is a party at the Phillips house. Isla Elizabeth Phillips, the youngest daughter of Peter Phillips and his ex-wife Autumn Kelly, turned twelve years old today. How is this royal spring in the field doing?
Isla Phillips
Very often we don’t get to see Isla and her older sister, Savannah. Not surprising: the ladies are quite far from the throne as granddaughters of Princess Anne. We most often see them in action at various equestrian events, where they can romp around with cousins Mia and Lena.
And Isla has been enjoying clambering and playing along the line during equestrian events in Gatcombe Park from an early age.
No title
The young teenager, who is currently 20th in line to the British throne, was born in 2012 as the second daughter of Autumn Kelly and Peter Phillips, the eldest grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth. Because Peter’s mother, Princess Anne, declined a princely title for her offspring at his birth, little Isla and Savannah also have no official titles.
And that is quite unique! At the birth of their father, the Washington Post wrote: “This is the first child born to an untitled princess in at least 500 years.”
Regal maid
Despite this oddity, we still regularly see Isla with the rest of the royals at all kinds of grand events. Not always climbing and clambering, but sometimes just talking to the British Prime Minister, as you do as an eleven-year-old.
Of course, Isla and her nieces and nephews can also wave friendly words to the crowd during events such as Trooping the Colour.
Parting
A few years ago, Peter and Autumn unfortunately announced their separation, and in 2021 their divorce was finalized. This is why we have mainly seen Isla appear next to her father in recent times, and why her mother is seen less often at royal events.

Fortunately, the Phillips sisters also get along great with their extended family members, such as aunt Zara Tindall. And hey, if you have to go to a royal event with your dad in your Christmas best… you can always entertain yourself with a ballpoint pen and your hand, as Isla proved.
