The weather is getting nicer and before you know it you will be lying in a blanket in a park or walking around in the sun. Amsterdam has many beautiful parks, but which park in Amsterdam should you go to on sunny days?
Vondelpark in the center
Let’s start with the most famous park, the Vondelpark. The Vondelpark has been a favorite with Amsterdam residents since 1865 and now also with tourists. It is located in the middle of the city and is an oasis of peace. You can enjoy the sun on the large lawns with a tasty snack and drink, but there is also room to play football with your friends or children. There are several playgrounds for the small children and a swimming pool for nice days. The beautifully landscaped, spacious paths give you plenty of space to take a nice walk or run. This national monument should not be missing from this list.
Amstelpark in Amsterdam South
The Amstelpark is located (you wouldn’t guess it) on the Amstel in Amsterdam South. The park started with a horticultural exhibition in 1972 and this can still be seen today. The many different trees, plants and flowers are blooming beautifully. This is the park in Amsterdam for the children. Let the children get lost in the maze, play golf on the mini golf course and play for hours in the large playground. View the entire Amstelpark by means of a small train, which drives around the entire park.
Oosterpark in Amsterdam East
There is always a relaxed atmosphere in the Oosterpark. Around the large pond you can sit on a bench in the sun while you watch the swimming ducks or do this from a rug on the lawn. Feel like moving? Play tennis on the tennis court or skate in the skate park, but there is also a nature playground for the children and a large paddling pool. If you are lucky, you will enjoy a nice performance in the music dome, while you sit in the sun and enjoy a glass of wine, a coke or a coffee.
Rembrandt Park in Amsterdam West
In Nieuw-West you can enjoy the sun and each other in the Rembrandt Park. Here you can walk quietly in nature or take a seat by a lake on a bench. There is plenty to do here for the children. Children aged six to fourteen build huts on the Landje, ride ponies, play in the playground, do crafts and cook in the craft room and play sports. They can spend hours here while you read a good book in the sun.
Noorderpark in Amsterdam North
The spacious Noorderpark is located in the middle of the north. Wonderful to cycle through or take a leisurely walk. Play a game of tennis on the tennis court or take a dip in the Noorderparkbad. There are several playgrounds for children, such as De Bloemenweide playground. Cooking and craft afternoons for children are organized every week in the De Bloemenweide playground.
