Is the planning realistic?
If you want your planning to be successful, it must be realistic. Making a realistic plan is not easy. Take into account how long each task will take. How fast are you and also consider that you may take breaks. Better to give yourself too much time than too little.
The sequence
The order in which you schedule something is important. What do you prefer, first a job you dread or something you just did? Think about how you best distribute your energy.
Plan on a fixed day
For clear planning, it is better to plan weekly or even monthly. Do this on a fixed day, for example Sunday. Try to set a goal for each week.
Think in advance why you want to finish it
To motivate yourself, it works well to think about why you want to finish something. This may be a feeling of satisfaction or because you finally have peace. Keeping this in mind will give you a goal to work towards. This certainly gives an extra motivation boost.
A place without distractions
When you finally start working, you don’t want to be distracted. You also don’t want to be disturbed when you’re just in your work flow. Find a place where you won’t be distracted. The library, for example. To be even less distracted, put your phone on silent. Then you won’t hear any notifications and you can work without distractions.
Tell others what you are going to do
If you work from home, it is always useful to tell your housemates that you are going to work with concentration. Then the rest of the household won’t disturb you. It has also been proven that if you tell someone your resolutions, you are more likely to carry them out. So talking about your schedule increases the chance that you will actually stick to it.
Large tasks don’t have to be done all at once
When you have a large task, it does not have to be completed in one go. Just like when you read a book. You do not do this in one day, but spread it over several days or weeks. You also don’t finish a large task in one go. Spread it over several days or even weeks.
Reward yourself
When you have stuck to your plan, it is nice to give yourself a reward. You’ve worked hard so you deserve it. If you think in advance what the reward will be, you will probably want to work harder. Motivate yourself in a way that you know works. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you got this.
