A special present for our Amaal.
Of course, we Dutch people have known for a long time that Amalia is a princess among thousands. But our Amaal has also managed to leave a good impression outside our little country. So good, in fact, that King Felipe gave the princess a special gift.

On April 17 and 18, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will experience a nice first. Fellow monarchs King Felipe and Queen Letizia will then make an official state visit to the Netherlands for the first time. Amalia will also make an appearance at a number of events, and in the run-up to the visit, King Felipe has already given the Crown Princess a special gift.

Special present
But what does a king give to a foreign crown princess? We would bet on a very expensive bottle of champagne or an exclusive pair of earrings, but it turns out to be something completely different. Felipe awarded Amalia an important award: the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. It is an award with which the Spanish king expresses ‘royal appreciation’. Not a bad present for our Amaal.

There is a good chance that Amalia will wear the award during the state banquet in Amsterdam on Wednesday evening. It will undoubtedly look fantastic on the princess!
Fashion battle
It is not yet known what other activities are planned for the two royal couples. Anyway: whatever their highnesses do next, we are of course ready to analyze Máx and Leti’s outfits down to the last detail. We are already preparing for a real fashion battle between the queens!
