Winning goal
The fact that the Netherlands won in the first match of the UEFA Euro 2024 was thanks to Cody Gakpo, who played in the 29e minute managed to score the equalizer after an earlier goal by Polish footballer Adam Buksa and Wout Weghorst. He made it 2-1 in minute 83.
With his magnificent goal, Wout Weghorst was soon after the match renamed the ‘Savior of the Fatherland’, ‘Hero of Orange’ and ‘goldcrest’. Although he was not in the starting line-up, he was allowed onto the field in the 81st minute after a substitution with Memphis Depay. Just two minutes later, Weghorst scored the winning goal. And that was how it had to be done, he explained afterwards.
“I knew it. I can show you the apps. I said to my girlfriend this morning: equal score, 0-0 or 1-1, twenty minutes before time…It was a little later, but you feel it, you visualize it.” So you see: you can learn to manifest, even as a top athlete. But who is that friend?

Although the juice channels regularly provide news about the busy love lives of various professional football players, Wout Weghorst has been happy with his great love for a long time.
He has been together with Nikki van Esch for thirteen years, to whom he lost his heart when he was still in high school. In conversation with Helden Magazine, Weghorst revealed that they shared their first kiss in their last school year. Cute!
Over the years, the couple has had three beautiful children: Juul (2018), Lucy Marie Jo (2020), and Daantje Suze Mary (2022).
