‘If I can’t run, I’ll walk. And if I can’t walk, I’ll crawl.’
Nice news! The first images of the documentary about Céline Dion have been revealed! Streaming service Prime Video has released the trailer for the documentary about the Canadian diva called I Am: Céline Dion, and it is impressive to say the least!
Documentary
I Am: Céline Dion is directed by Oscar-nominated director Irene Taylor. The documentary takes us into the life of one of the most recognized, respected and successful artists in pop music history. The film will be about her successful career as a singer, but also about the health problems she is currently facing. Although there is plenty to enjoy about the singer during the peak of her career, we will also be taken into the difficult times she is currently going through.
The trailer shows Celine saying that she ‘works very hard every day’. “But I have to admit it has been a struggle. I miss it so much,” she says emotionally. Yet she doesn’t just give up. “If I can’t run, I’ll walk. And if I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. I’m not stopping.”
Rare disease
Céline suffers from the rare neurological disorder stiff-person syndrome, which has prevented her from appearing on stage for quite some time. “The past few years have been an enormous challenge for me,” she previously said in a press release. “Because of the journey from discovering my condition to learning to live and manage it, but not let it define me.”
“As I try to restart my performing career, I realize how much I have missed seeing my fans,” said the Canadian singer. “During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life to raise awareness about this unknown condition and help others who have also been diagnosed with this condition.”
Health update
The arrival of the documentary seems to be a bright spot in the difficult road that Céline has taken recently. Things seemed to be getting worse and worse for the singer. In conversation with the Canadian site 7 Jours, sister Claudette explained that Céline has no control over her muscles. “What hurts me is that she has always been disciplined. She has always worked hard. My mom always told her, ‘You’re going to do this well.’”
I Am: Celine Dion can be seen on Prime Video from June 25.
