Oliebollen is the only food on our menu these days. Maybe not really healthy, but it’s just part of this time of year (right?). Did you know that you can also make these delicious snacks yourself conveniently (and healthier) in your own beloved air fryer? This is how you make oliebollen from the air fryer!

Making your own oliebollen from the air fryer: useful tips

New Year’s Eve is the time of the year when we can enjoy all the goodies. How convenient if you just have about eighty oliebollen at home for when you don’t feel like going to the oliebollen bakery in the village? With this easy recipe you don’t have eighty, but twenty (should be enough, right?) and you can make those oliebollen in no time. Heating up frozen oliebollen in the air fryer also works perfectly for a few weeks later!

This is what you need for oliebollen from the air fryer:

  • 300 milliliters of semi-skimmed milk
  • 7 grams of dried yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 750 grams of flour
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 medium egg
  • 300 milliliters of sparkling mineral water
  • 35 grams of powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil spray
  • A mixer with dough hooks
  • A clean tea towel
  • Ice cream scoop
  • An air fryer

Recipe for oliebollen from the air fryer

1. First heat the milk in a saucepan until it is lukewarm. Then add the yeast and sugar, turn off the heat and let it stand for 10 minutes until it starts to foam a little.

2. Then sift 700 grams of flour with the salt into a large bowl. Clean the lemon well and grate the yellow peel. Then stir this into the flour. Then add the egg and add the milk mixture while beating with the mixer.

3. Then keep stirring and slowly add the sparkling water. Beat this until it is a smooth batter, resembling pancake batter and bread dough. Cover with a clean, but damp tea towel and let it rise in a warm place for 60 minutes. After rising, stir it with a spoon.

4. Then stir together the remaining flour and icing sugar and wet the ice cream scoop. Scoop out the dough as you would scoop an ice cream. Then carefully drop the batter into the flour mixture and roll all the oliebollen in it.

5. Then you can preheat the air fryer to 200 degrees Celsius and spray the basket with the olive oil. Place the balls you have made in the basket and spray them with a little bit. Then bake them for about 10 minutes until golden brown and done. Turn them over halfway through.

Then remove the oliebollen from the air fryer, sprinkle them (if you like) with the remaining icing sugar and you’re done. Enjoy your meal!
