Ratings low and cancellation: These are the biggest TV flops of 2023

Some TV formats had a difficult time this year. The German TV landscape actually offers a variety of different shows and series every year to suit every taste. Classics like Bauer sucht Frau in particular always attract numerous fans to their screens. But also Thomas Gottschalk’s (73) bet that…? -Farewell turned out to be a great success. But not all shows did well in 2023: These shows are the biggest TV flops of 2023!

New dating formats in particular had a difficult time this year. Amira Pocher’s (31) show “My Mom, Your Dad” was taken off the program after just three weeks because the ratings were poor. “The Marriage Market” was given similarly short shrift. The show, which was adapted from US television, failed miserably with viewers. Nevertheless, the first season was allowed to run until the end, but then it was canceled. One of the biggest flops of this year was the afternoon program “Full House”. Due to weak ratings, the show continued to decline in time slots. The biggest problem seemed to be the lack of a concept, as it wasn’t entirely clear how the show was supposed to work even before it aired.

But that wasn’t all, because brand new formats like “Prominent and useful” and “The Unbeatables”, which actually promised great entertainment, were forgotten as quickly as they appeared. Music shows were not spared either. The Tokio Hotel twins Bill (34) and Tom Kaulitz (34) in particular had to swallow a bitter pill because their attempt to get started as presenters with “That’s My Jam” backfired. The Voice of Germany offshoot was also not very well received. The Voice Rap“. The tip of the iceberg will ultimately have been the cancellation of the former cult format Köln 50667.
